Free Access to Course Materials

When Instructors use Libraries materials in courses, it helps make them more accessible and affordable for students.

These materials may include books, electronic books, movies, articles or models.

Finding Libraries Course Materials in Canvas

If your instructor has not created a list of materials for you, email Libraries staff to let them know to contact your instructor.

Libraries Course Materials in the Canvas Menu

Go to your course in Canvas, and look for the 'Libraries Course Materials' link in the menu on the left side of the screen. Be aware, the placement of the menu item in Canvas is different for each course.

Print and Digital Materials Listed in a Canvas Course

The materials from the Libraries that the instructor has included in their course, along with access options (either online viewing or physical items), will be displayed.

Books, PDFs and articles displayed in the Canvas course with covers, title, descriptions and available formats for viewing.

Borrowing Print or Physical Materials On Reserve

Physical items such as books, 3D models or DVDs put "on Reserve" may be borrowed for a designated time period through the Library listed in your Canvas course. Your NCard is required to borrow Course Reserve items.
