Ping Pong Like It's 1942!
A ping-pong table will be set up for anyone to use during the entire week.
April 13 - 17, 2026
Love South, 2nd Floor
Why ping pong?
From 1942-45 during World War II, newly built Love Library served as a barracks for the Army Specialized Training Program. Shown here are ASTP members playing pool and ping-pong in the areas that became the circulation desk (ASKus service desks today).

Do I need to bring my own paddle?
Only if you’re a semi-pro and wouldn't play with any other paddle. Otherwise, we'll have plenty of paddles and balls available at the ping pong tables.
Is there a tournament?
It’s "Open Play" all week. If a spontaneous bracket breaks out, that’s on you. Winner gets bragging rights and the eternal respect of the Libraries staff.

About the Primal Scream...
The Dean of the Libraries will lead us in this coordinated, cathartic release of academic stress by screaming as loud as we can.
If the neighbors ask, tell them it’s "acoustical engineering research."
What is the rainy day plan?
We get it, April showers bring May flowers, so in the event we get rain the plan is to move all festivities to Love South Level 2 (collaboration space) and the LINK.
At 2pm, we'll head outside under the LINK for the primal scream event.
