Libraries play a dynamic role in today's Information Age, working to organize and facilitate access to a rapidly expanding world of information and research. Electronic and Internet resources, microforms, slides, CDs and various other media are as much a part of today's libraries as traditional paper-based resources like books, serials, and manuscripts or other archival materials. Assisting users to find information and formulate their research strategies and providing instruction in information literacy are also integral to library services, as are administrative and managerial functions. It is a challenging time for those who work in libraries, demanding a constant updating of skills and keeping current with trends in publishing, education, computers, management, and the media, but the work can also be very fulfilling.
